Stanley R. Okonski, Jr., 83, of Kenhorst, passed away May 20, 2022, at 9:49 AM in The Reading Hospital.
Born in West Reading, he was a son of the late Stanley R. Okonski, Sr., and Irene (Stankiewicz) Okonski. He was the husband of Elaine M. (Scherbanik) Okonski, who passed away March 27, 2019. They celebrated 58 years of marriage prior to her passing.
Stanley was a truck driver working for Branch Motors and retiring from AWI, Robesonia. He was a proud veteran of the US Army, 8th Division Infantry, serving in Korea. A member of St. John Baptist de LaSalle R.C. Church, Shillington, Stanley was a family man. A devoted father and husband, he adored his grandchildren. Stan was kindhearted and found simple pleasures by fishing in Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay and Delaware’s Indian River Inlet. His greatest pleasures were spending time with his family at picnics and gatherings.
He is survived by his sons – Chris W. Okonski, West Reading, Michael P. Okonski, Muhlenberg Twp, his siblings – William J. husband of Jean Okonski, Cumru Twp., Linda A. wife of John Ruth, Robesonia, his grandchildren – Dylan S. Okonski, Taylor Jean Okonski, his former daughter-in-law – Tracy L. Okonski and several Nieces and Nephews.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 27, 2022, at 10:00 AM from St. John Baptist de LaSalle R. C. Church, 42 Kerrick Road, Shillington. Rev. Edward J. Essig, M. Div. celebrant. Entombment with military honors rendered by the U.S. Army and the Ray A. Master Post #217 Honor Guard. Viewing on Friday, May 27, 2022, from 9:00 AM – 9:50 AM at the church.
