Thomas J. “Tom” Ingram, 90, passed away June 17th 2022 at Mifflin Court, Shillington, where he resided since 2021. He was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie L. Ingram, with whom he had celebrated 58 years of marriage, and by two sisters, Betty Yankwich and Martha PIlorz, both of Santa Barbara, CA. He is survived by his two daughters: Susan Ingram, Pipersville, PA, wife of Jeffrey Mann, and Katherine Davis, Shillington, wife of Michael, and by his stepson, Dr. Robert Hevner of Del Mar, CA. There are also two grandchildren, Alexander Mann and Sophia Hevner.
He was born August 7, 1931 in Los Angeles, California, to Stuart H. and Etta J. Ingram, and lived in Pasadena until 1963. He graduated from South Pasadena-San Marino High School and the University of California at Berkley, where he received a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1953. Following graduation, he entered the Army and served in Korea. He was discharged in 1955.
He began his career as an engineer with C.F. Braun & Company in Alhambra, CA, before moving to the Aerojet-General Corporation in Azusa and Sacramento. While there, he worked as a development engineer on rocket engines. He made significant contributions to the design of the Lunar Excursion Module of the Apollo Program, and NERVA nuclear propelled rocket engine. In 1968 he returned to C.F. Braun before moving to Jackson, Michigan as an air pollution control specialist for Commonwealth Associates, which eventually became Worley-Parsons in Reading. He retired in 1998. He was a member of several technical societies and was a registered engineer in five states.
He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Reading.
